Cosmetic Surgery
Is cosmetic surgery really the answer to improving your looks, self-esteem and lifestyle? Some claim that cosmetic surgery is a distraction from the real issue, which is a person's low self-esteem. It's true that people who have low self-esteem will often blame their negative feelings on something external-like their looks. It's easy for a person to say "Because I'm fat", or "Because I'm ugly, I am worthless." This is toxic thinking and this type of negativity should never be a person's motivation in exploring cosmetic surgery.
Most people who do pursue cosmetic surgery are actually quite at peace with themselves. They don't hate themselves or feel inferior because of any one facet of their body or personality. They simply want to improve their happiness, their lifestyle and their looks by repairing one minor flaw. In their mind, they see cosmetic surgery as a positive change they can make to increase the quality of life they live. Perhaps these individuals feel that a certain facial flaw distracts others from their overall beauty, such as an unusually large nose. Some others may have developed a complex because they feel their breasts are too small or their tummy is too big. They figure with this one minor adjustment they can feel 100% and reach higher goals than ever before imagined.
Some people actually undergo cosmetic surgery for career reasons. Show business can be quite demanding and perfection is not a gift anymore, but a given. Small or sagging breasts, an unusual face, or excessive paunch can detract from a person's overall talent. Soon enough, their entire career will be defined by their flaw-the "big nose girl" or the "fat chick." This may be a sad fact, but it is one hard to dispute. Hollywood can be a cruel mistress, but if it's an industry you want to be part of, you have to play by "her" rules.
What you must realize about cosmetic surgery is that your plastic surgeon is not attempting to make you beautiful. Rather, he or she is intending to remove any flaws so that your natural beauty can be even more noticeable. After undergoing plastic surgery, most clients have found that their life has changed for the positive. They often times report better success with the opposite sex, more career opportunities and increased self-confidence.
If you are considering cosmetic surgery, then let no one else influence your decision. This is about you being at peace with your own body!
